Robotics classes
We teach kids and students to build and program robots. Classes are run by the same engineers who build our robot software.
Formats
Who we teach
Private and small groups
One child or a small group, at a pace that suits them. Good for a first taste of coding and robots.
School clubs and classes
The maze robot course, or a hands-on club with Makerzoid kits, run for a class or an after-school robotics club.
Makerzoid kitsColleges and universities
Robot fundamentals for vocational and university students, and workshops on robot learning with LeRobot SO-101 arms.
SO-101 armsTeacher workshops
Sessions for teachers who will run the kits themselves, so the robots keep being used after we leave.
Course
Maze robot course
Kids program a robot to escape a maze. They write drag-and-drop block code in the browser and see a 3D robot run it straight away, so every lesson ends with something that works (or a bug to find).
- For
- Primary and lower-secondary students, beginners welcome
- Length
- 12 sessions × 1.5 hours (18 hours). Hours can be adjusted.
- Platform
- Runs on RoboPark, our online robot simulator (in development)
- Price
- Quoted per group. Ask us.
| No. | Topic | What they do |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Introduction | Get to know the block coding editor. Drag-and-drop exercises. |
| 2 | Code blocks I | Why order matters. Move and turn blocks to drive the robot. |
| 3 | Code blocks II | Loops: repeat and repeat-until, to do the same job without copying code. |
| 4 | Robot basics | Robot blocks mixed with the other blocks to move the robot in the simulator. |
| 5 | First maze | Logic plus robot blocks to get through a simple maze. |
| 6 | IMU I | Using the robot's motion sensor to turn accurately. |
| 7 | IMU II | Getting through the no-wall stage with the motion sensor. |
| 8 | Colour sensor I | How colour detection works. Programs that react to colours. |
| 9 | Colour sensor II | Solving the colour maze. |
| 10 | Maze algorithms | Maze-solving strategies, tried on harder mazes. |
| 11 | Maze competition | Advanced mazes, in teams. |
| 12 | Maze competition | Final round and a look back at what everyone built. |
What students come away with
- Programming basics: sequences, conditions, loops, functions, data types
- Breaking a problem into steps, then testing and debugging
- What sensors and microcontrollers do and how a robot uses them
- Maths and logic, practised on a goal kids care about
Ask about a class for your school or group
Tell us the age range, how many students, and whether you already have kits. We'll suggest a format and send a quote.
